Angina is the description given to chest pain that occurs because of cardiac ischemia. This discomfort is sometimes characterized as tightness in the chest.

Some people describe angina as a tightness, others as a heaviness. Sometimes this pain is very severe, other times it is not not so bad.

Sometimes this will radiate to the arm, jaw, neck, or abdomen.

Angina symptoms often occur in the setting of physical activity, emotional upset, or even eating.

Angina symptoms should never be ignored.
