Symptoms of Aspergillosis

Aspergillosis symptoms occur in patients infected with a fungus known as Aspergillus. Aspergillus is found throughout our environment and we are all exposed to Aspergillus on a daily basis.

Aspergillus can infect the lung, heart, central nervous system, ears, or sinuses. Aspergillus symptoms most commonly occur with lung involvement.


In patients with lung involvement, cough sometimes is productive of blood (hemoptysis). Pulmonary aspergillosis is associated with shortness of breath, wheezing, fever, and brown color sputum.


Aspergillus symptoms are more common in immunocompromised patients because these people or more likely to be infected.
