The symptoms of bowel obstruction occur because of blockage of the intestine. This can occur because of adhesions, inflammation, cancer, hernia, twisting, or intussusception.

The symptoms of bowel obstruction can include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. These symptoms are often associated with pain in the abdomen and abdominal bloating.


People may not pass any gas if the obstruction is complete. If the obstruction is partial, some soft or liquid stool may continue to pass.
