The differential diagnosis for the medical causes of abdominal pain include aortic aneurysm, abdominal trauma, adrenal crisis, appendicitis, abdominal cancer, gallstones, cirrhosis, Crohn's disease, diverticulitis, ectopic pregnancy, endometriosis, gastrointestinal infection, gastritis, heart failure, and hepatic abscess.

Other causes of abdominal pain include hepatitis, herpes zoster, intestinal obstruction, irritable bowel syndrome, hepatic amebiasis, pelvic inflammatory disease, pancreatitis, peritonitis, pleurisy, pneumonia, pneumothorax, prostatitis, and mesenteric ischemia.

Listeriosis, pyelonephritis, urinary tract infection, kidney stones, sickle cell, splenic infarction, ulcerative colitis, and uremia can also be a cause of abdominal pain.
