Cause of Hair Loss

 



The cause of hair loss, is most commonly related to male gender, hormonal changes, and genetics.

However, there are some medical causes of hair loss, which include alopecia areata, arterial insufficiency, skin burns, cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, cellulitis of the scalp, dermatitis, fungal infection, Hodgkin's disease, chemotherapy effects, hypopituitarism, hypothyroidism, lichen planus, lupus, thyrotoxicosis, syphilis, seborrheic dermatitis, sarcoidosis, malnutrition, and scleroderma.

Medications can be the cause of hair loss include allopurinol, thyroid medications, beta-blockers, carbamazepine, colchicine, gentamicin, heparin, oral contraceptives, indomethacin, lithium, excess of vitamin A, and warfarin.
