Cause of Chickenpox

 



The Varicella virus is the cause of chickenpox. Chickenpox has a 14 day incubation period. It is associated with a rash that develops on the face and body associated with fever. Later, the rash develops on the arms and legs.

Chickenpox are spread the inhalation or by direct contact.

The Varicella virus is the cause of chickenpox and the cause of shingles. Shingles occurs most commonly in older patients, and occurs because of a reactivation of the Varicella virus.

There is a vaccine to protect against the cause of chickenpox. People who develop a severe form of chickenpox can be treated with medications.
