Cause of Cough

 



Many medical conditions can be the cause of cough. Infection, pneumonia, congestive heart failure, asthma, COPD, and bronchitis are perhaps the most common cause of cough.

Airway occlusion, aortic aneurysm, atelectasis, bronchogenic carcinoma, cold, achalasia, and esophageal occlusion can also be a cause of cough.

Hodgkin's disease, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, laryngeal tumor, laryngitis, legionnaires disease, lung abscess, mediastinal tumors, pericardial effusions, pleural effusions, and pneumothorax can be a cause of cough.

Less common causes of cough, include SARS, leukemia, sarcoidosis.

Medications, sinusitis, pulmonary embolism, and pneumothorax can also be a cause of cough.
