Cause of Headache

 



The most common cause of headache is tension. Tension headache is a cause of approximately 80% of all headaches.

Other causes of headache include migraine, fever, hypoxemia, hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia, coughing, lifting, alcohol, caffeine, and cluster headaches.

Medical causes of headache include brain abscess, brain tumor, cerebral aneurysm, encephalitis, epidural hemorrhage, glaucoma, hanta virus, hypertension, influenza.

Other causes of headache include the intracerebral hemorrhage, Listeria, meningitis, plague, Q fever, sinusitis, subarachnoid hemorrhage, and subdural hematoma.

Temporal arteritis, tularemia, typhus, and West Nile virus can also be a cause of headache.

Medications such as nitrates, caffeine, ergotamine St. John's wort, ginseng, and ephedra can be a cause of headache.
