Cause of Hearing Loss

 



The medical causes of hearing loss include acoustic neuroma, adenoid hypertrophy, allergies, polyp in the extra auditory canal, cholestatoma, cysts, tumor, furuncle, granuloma, head trauma, hypothyroidism, Menier’s disease, nasopharyngeal cancer, ostoma, otitis external, otitis media, otosclerosis and Ramsey hunt syndrome.

Skull fracture, syphilis, temporal arteritis, tuberculosis, perforation of the tympanic membrane, and Wagner's granulomatosis can all be a cause of hearing loss.

Medications such as cisplatin, vancomycin, aminoglycosides, diuretics, quinine, salicylates, and erythromycin can also be a cause of hearing loss.
