Colon cancer symptoms are often characterized by gastrointestinal blood loss, severe constipation, change in bowel movements, abdominal swelling, red blood in stool, dark black stools, weight loss, malaise, diarrhea, and pencil thin stools.

Colon cancer symptoms or iron deficiency anemia in post menopausal women or any man should prompt immediate workup.


Early symptoms of colon cancer can be vague, and sometimes people don’t have many symptoms. For this reason, regular screening colonoscopies and stool fecal occult blood examination is advocated.


If a person has a personal family history of colon cancer, they should notify their physician of this issue.
