Cor pulmonale symptoms occur when there is a failure of the right side of the heart. Cor pulmonale results in failure of the heart to pump the blood properly to the left side of the heart.

Cor pulmonale has been associated with chronic lung problems such as emphysema and sleep apnea. Primary pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary fibrosis can also result in cor pulmonale symptoms.

Cor pulmonale symptoms are characterized by shortness of breath and cough. Many people may develop severe edema of the extremities in the setting of cor pulmonale.

Other symptoms include a fast respiratory rate, a fast heart rate, a low blood pressure, and an enlarged liver
