Dysentery symptoms occur when people are infected with a parasite known as Entomoeba histolytica. Dysentery symptoms include abdominal pain associated with diarrhea.

Sometimes people may have blood in their stool. Other dysentery symptoms include fever, back pain, nausea and vomiting.


Entomoeba histolytica can infect the liver resulting in right upper quadrant pain, tenderness over the liver, and fever.


Some people have little to no dysentery symptoms despite infection
