Herpes simplex symptoms are related to an infection with the herpes simplex virus.
The herpes simplex virus is found in two types. Herpes simplex type 1 is generally involved in cold sores. Herpes simplex type 2 is generally associated with genital herpes.
Other herpes simplex symptoms include tingling of the skin, burning, and itching, associated with the development of vesicles at the site of infection. Herpes simplex symptoms may last for a period of two to six weeks. Rare complications of herpes simplex infections in include meningitis, encephalitis, ocular herpes, and eczema herpeticum.
