Herpes symptoms are caused by the herpes simplex virus.
Herpes is extremely common. Often this disease is asymptomatic. Genital herpes symptoms can include pain and itching that occur 2-5 days after exposure. People can develop blisters at the site of infection. The blisters can be painful and develop into open sores that can last up to two weeks.
