Symptoms of Influenza

Return to Home Page  Return to Symptoms Page

Influenza symptoms occur in people infected with the influenza virus. Influenza symptoms generally come on quickly.

The symptoms often include high fever, muscle aches, joint aches, and generalized fatigue. Sometimes people develop enlarged lymph nodes in the neck.

Other classic symptoms of influenza include a dry cough and headache.

The influenza virus can be diagnosed with a rapid test that can be ordered by physicians or nurses. Although a person may receive the influenza vaccine, that does not totally protect a person from developing influenza.

The influenza vaccine does not result in influenza symptoms.
