Listeriosis symptoms occur in people infected with the bacteria known as Listeria monocytogenes.

Pregnant women and people who are immunocompromised are prone to develop infection with Listeria.


Listeria monocyteogenes is the most common cause of bacterial meningitis in immunocompromised patients. The listeriosis symptoms may include muscle aches and joint aches.


Fever and headache are very common. Other associated listeriosis symptoms include backache, fatigue, diarrhea, stiff neck, abdominal pain, nausea, and symptoms of meningitis. Fever is one of the common listeriosis symptoms.
