Malaria symptoms occur in people infected with the Plasmodium protozoa parasite. Malaria symptoms generally occur after being bit by a female Anopheles mosquito.
Malaria symptoms can include fever and chills. Headache is common. Other malaria symptoms include nausea and vomiting associated with abdominal pain. Some people develop muscle and joint aches.
