Mesothelioma is a malignancy of the lining of the lung. Patients diagnosed with mesothelioma are often eligible for monetary compensation.

Mesothelioma Treatment:
Surgery: Surgical options, when possible, can be quite effective for mesothelioma treatment. Sometimes a chest tube can be placed to drain the pleural fluid from the lung to improve symptoms of shortness of breath. Patients can often undergo pleurodesis to prevent recurrence of the pleural effusion. When possible, extensive surgery can be undertaken. Sometimes this includes removal of the lung, the lining of the lung (pleura), the lining of the heart (pericardium), and the muscle that helps us breathe (diaphragm). Generally, surgery for mesothelioma treatment is followed by chemotherapy and radiation.

Radiation: Radiation is a mesothelioma treatment that can help with symptom control.

Chemotherapy: Chemotherapy can be given to patients who are not surgical candidates. Chemotherapy alone cannot cure mesothelioma but can prolong life. Often chemotherapy can be given with concurrent radiation.
