Symptoms of Neurofibromatosis

Neurofibromatosis symptoms occur in patients with this autosomal dominant inherited condition. Symptoms may include café au lait spots of the skin, deafness, back pain, and dyspnea.


People can develop subcutaneous neurofibromas associated with this disorder. Lisch nodules are melanocytic hamartomas of the iris.


Other associated conditions include scoliosis and fracture. Many people with neurofibromatosis have an abnormally low IQ associated with learning disabilities.


Neurofibromatosis can affect the CNS and result in neurologic symptoms.
