| Pregnancy weight gain is normal. The average weight gain during pregnancy is approximately 27 pounds. This weight is distributed among the baby, uterus, amniotic fluid, placenta, maternal blood volume, breast enlargement, fluid retention, and fat. The average pregnancy weight gain between 20 weeks gestation and delivery is approximately 1 pound per week. In one study, 12.1 pounds of pregnancy weight was lost during delivery and the two weeks that followed. | |
