Bowel problems are common. Bowel problems can be divided into two main categories, bowel problems causing diarrhea and bowel problems causing constipation. Diarrhea and constipation are bowel problems that occur in everyone. These bowel problems are sometimes associated with other symptoms such as pain, fever, weight loss, and dehydration. Bowel problems can be life threatening or simply just a part of everyday life.
Normal bowel movements vary from person to person. Constipation is a change from normal bowel movements characterized by small bowel movements occurring less frequently than normal. Diarrhea is a bowel problem characterized by frequent liquid bowel movements.
