Tonsillitis symptoms occur with bacterial or viral infections resulting in inflammation of the tonsils.

The most common tonsillitis symptom is a sore throat. Not all sore throats are tonsillitis.


Often people will have some redness and swelling, sometimes associated with white patches on the tonsils.


Other tonsillitis symptoms include fever, chills, enlarged lymph nodes, and pain with swallowing.
