Trigeminal neuralgia is characterized by facial pain secondary to damage to the trigeminal nerve (Cranial Nerve III).

Trigeminal neuralgia is also known as tic douloureux.


Trigeminal neuralgia symptoms include facial pain of the face. This pain can be sudden and severe.


Some people will have specific triggers which can reproduce the symptoms. The cause of trigeminal neuralgia is unclear.
