TB symptoms occur in people infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

TB symptoms include respiratory symptoms such as shortness of breath, cough productive of sputum, cough productive of blood (hemoptysis), and chest pain.


Other TB symptoms are less specific and include weight loss, fever, fatigue. It is difficult to diagnose TB by symptoms alone, therefore a chest x-ray,


TB skin test, and a sputum culture are generally needed
