Ulcerative Colitis symptoms occur because of inflammation of the colon thought to be related to an underlying autoimmune disorder.


Ulcerative colitis symptoms may include rectal bleeding or diarrhea. Sometimes people develop rectal pain and inflammation around the rectum or anus.


Diarrhea is a common ulcerative colitis symptom. People can experience abdominal cramping associated with increased bowel movements, and severe pain.


Other symptoms of ulcerative colitis may include fever, anemia, weight loss, or dehydration.
