Vitiligo symptoms result a loss of pigmentation of the skin. The underlying cause of vitiligo and its associated symptoms are unknown.


Vitiligo symptoms occur in about 1% of the United States population. Vitiligo symptoms include areas a of skin that lack pigmentation. This results in a change of the color of the skin.


Vitiligo symptoms can include changing of the color of hair with loss of pigmentation. The symptoms tend to involve both sides of the body in a somewhat symmetrical fashion.


The skin lesions generally do not hurt or itch.
