Cause of Leprosy


The cause of leprosy is related to infection by a bacteria known as Mycobacterium Leprae.

It is thought that the cause of leprosy transmission occurs via broken skin or by inhalation.

There are approximately 150 new cases of leprosy per year in the United States.

The incubation period for leprosy is approximately 4-5 years.
